D + 2 DAYS

D + 2 Days. In case there was a war, a few decisive battles would have been fought by now. In cyberspace where things move at the speed of light, maybe we have overestimated the opposition capabilities.

The only explanation is that our Anti-Cyber Babudom is sleeping. I have not had any DDOS attack ( Denial of Services Attack being the easiest one). I, overconfidently and defiantly, also left my Modem (a D-Link ADSL II Router* for the help of hackers) on throughout overnight so that my IP address does not change and I get hit. No Joy.

    I know about rumours that youngsters can bring down my system in no time. Hats off to them. While the Chinese and Pakis have a decent cyber Warfare cell going, we are sleeping. Perhaps it is another "turf war" and as usual we Indians are sitting on our asses.

        Why does no take the bait? Simple. The Cyber Killer Babudom have no reasonable knowledge of capabilities or capabilities. Of course, they can order / get Board Of Inquiries, Court Of Inquiries and Summary of Evidences ordered, but can only hide behind their law -books and the might of a bureaucracy and spread Canards and misinformation.

      They will of course not allow the Army to use its vast infrastructure, knowledge, intelligence and organisation to have a Cyber Warfare Cell. Why? Because the Army will control it and the idiot "Blind Men of Hindustan" want control.


   My contention remains :-

     (a)      Stop trying to run the Army.

    (b)      As long as personnel follow simple rules and cannot be hacked easily, stop telling us what to do. Tell us what not to do and we will tell our personnel to do so (as long as it is logical).

   (c)     If you are telling us what to do, also please tell us on what basis you are telling us not to do something. Duff logic that "it will impact National Security" is like saying Kasab was a super weapon. We don't believe you much any longer.




I have been dropping wide hints on how to hack me and prove the capability. For Example, I have told you

    (a)      I have a Original (non-pirated) Operating System. Which kind and how many bits OS it is*, you should be able to find out. Fact remains that it is automatically patched.

    (b)     Original Office 2007/ 2010 Professional (hopefully cannot be hacked and perhaps that is worth the price. It is of course; a wasted Rs 7400/-, quite redundant now since Armed Forces Personnel are no longer allowed to work at home.

   (c)     Paid Antivirus.

  (d)     One of the better known Firewall.

  (e)      No pirated Games on my system.

   (f)     No Torrent Files / Downloads. If at all I have to download anything I use Ubuntu which is on a separate partition.

   (g)    Browsers used are Google Chrome (preferable), Safari (sometimes), Firefox and rarely IE-9.0.***** . Browsers are generally patched automatically and manually.

  Now pls let me know my vulnerabilities. If my computer is not easily vulnerable, if I take all precautions, if I don't post whatever I am told not to post on Facebook, why should I be denied Facebook.

PS. I am not much of a Fan of Facebook and Orkut and maybe visit the page once a month. Even then, I'll not allow faceless clowns to dictate what I can do or what I cannot.

         Online newspapers are a threat to traditional newsprint. They would have strongly condemned the "Internet" had they not been so horrible enmeshed in competition, oneupmanship, mediocrity  and cannot see beyond tomorrow's edition.

Nobody except Bureaucrats care about Army Personnel's details

My contention and basis for starting this Blog is that our "Intelligence Agencies" do not know what they are doing at all. As a clueless gimmick, they are trying to curtail the rights of the Armed Forces Personnel.

The following are possibly the motives:-

(a)      To prove that they are doing something.
(b)      To prove that "Civilians" have total control over the Armed Forces.
(c)      That they know more than Armed Forces personnel (who are proven dopes).
(d)      To show some personnel in poor light. Target Group seems to be Officers of Lt Col Rank.
(e)      To show or claim that they are at the cutting edge (bleeding edge) of Technology and require more funding, manpower and authority.

Motives which would actually be relevant are :-

(a)     To stop Armed Forces from getting together (Divide and Rule).
(b)     Keep Armed Forces below the Information Horizon (Mushrooms are easy to pluck).
(c)     Control the Information with Army (so that they waste time and remain busy)
(d)     Stop a Coup (Believe me we are not interested in the shit you've created).  

Remember SOPA and PIPA. Government is clueless when it comes to making rules and will curtail freedom of personnel given any chance. They will sign first and read later or perhaps not read the legislation / rule at all). That's got to stop. An Individual's Freedom cannot and should not be curtailed if he is in the Army as long as he follows normal basic precautions and rules.

Whatever the case be my contention is that "security agencies" and "bureaucrats within the services" are making our own life difficult based on some hyped up claims. The bottom line remains - NOBODY IS INTERESTED IN HACKING US.

     Use your hacking skills to hack my computer. Proof of hack will be awarded by public recognition. Proof that hack somehow impacted Indian Army and had security implications will be double rewarded with recognition.

I am sick and tired of people telling me that script kiddies can hack into my computer and steal all my data my life along with my wife. I am from the Armed Forces. I have been scared into buying an original OS, dabbling with Open Source Operating systems conned into buying Antiviruses and Firewalls. What takes the cake is that any new hack discovered, seems to be directed at the Indian Army or atleast is made out to be as such. It is made out to be so serious as if any firearm , bullet or missile created anywhere in the world  against the Indian Army.

    Today, 28 Jan 12, I'd request anyone who can hack to start hacking me and my computer. Proof has to be posted. I will continue using the computer as i do, visiting the same sites, using the same browser, not clearing cookies, using e-mails, simple passwords, credit card transactions etc... etc..

   Proof posted as to how the hack / info has / could impact the Indian Army will be given extra Credits.
